Premiera płyty \“What is that?\”

We invite you to the release con­cert for the album “What is that?”. The record­ing is a doc­u­ment of free improvisation.

We met and allowed musi­cal thoughts to flow freely. Prze­mek Daniłow­icz record­ed the process. Rafał Smolińs­ki is respon­si­ble for the mix and mas­ter­ing. Wel­come to the pre­miere of our album! What is it? You will not find an answer to the title ques­tion at the con­cert. Hear you there.

Pauli­na Owczarek — sax­o­phon­ist and impro­vis­er. She plays alto and bari­tone sax­o­phone. Her main area of musi­cal inter­est is free impro­vi­sa­tion and con­tem­po­rary cham­ber music. She is inten­sive­ly active on the impro­vised and exper­i­men­tal music scene, par­tic­i­pat­ing in Kraków free-improv projects as well as per­form­ing at inter­na­tion­al con­tem­po­rary and impro­vised music fes­ti­vals. Founder and con­duc­tor of the Krakow Impro­vis­ers Orches­tra; she cur­rent­ly plays in ensem­bles includ­ing Sam­bar, Morświn, Figa, Ute von Bin­gen and Open House. She col­lab­o­rates with the­atres and impro­vis­es with poets, dancers and visu­al artists.

Mar­ta Grzywacz — impro­vis­er; her field of activ­i­ty encom­pass­es impro­vised music and music edu­ca­tion. She sings and plays piano. As a mem­ber of Hash­tag Ensem­ble she per­forms works cre­at­ed “today”. As a teacher she devel­ops the musi­cal­i­ty of pupils and stu­dents through Dal­croze exer­cis­es. At the War­saw home of Hash­tag Ensem­ble she ini­ti­at­ed the P.I.K.A. series of meet­ings for musi­cians keen to prac­tise impro­vi­sa­tion with­out an audi­ence, and the f.i.m.m. series of con­certs by impro­vis­ing duets.

Sebas­t­ian Mac — gui­tarist, work­ing in the field of exper­i­men­tal music, main­ly elec­troa­coustic and impro­vised. Co-cre­ator of impro­vised music albums, com­pos­er of music for film, ani­ma­tion and theatre.
