Plim Plum Plam
Interactive workshops and micro-concerts for families with children aged 3–5
Lili, Nini and me
The straight line — the chief conductor in the world of shapes. It drills all the shapes into a single line, constantly insisting on straightening sides and angles. Relentlessly demands attention to the line. Its favourite phrase: “have a backbone”! Everyone must maintain not only the vertical, but also the horizontal. It doesn’t understand the world of sounds, unless they ring out in Morse code. At philharmonic concerts nothing thrills it more than the baton. It loves being “straight as a string”, even when it sleeps. All is well when most of the shapes around it have straight lines, sides and right angles. But what happens when, suddenly and without warning, a lyrical, undulating, emotion-filled — melodic line — appears nearby?

About the workshops:
#PlimPlamPlum. Contemporary music and art for young children is a series of workshops, micro-concerts and interactive events in which the very youngest children — even those from their earliest years of life — have the chance to encounter professional, classical contemporary music in the finest performances. During the workshops and activities within the series, children will experience joyful and creative play engaging the child together with a parent, as well as creative, sensory improvisations and tasks focused on achieving sensory integration. Specially chosen pieces, contemporary songs and improvisations, sound games, sensory-art and movement activities, producing sounds and timbres “close to the baby’s ear”, but also working with attentiveness and in proximity to the child’s other senses — and above all the careful observation of small children’s reactions to sound — are the goal and central premise of the #PlimPlamPlum workshop series, realised within the framework of the artistic scholarship of the Capital City of Warsaw. Anna Kierkosz — the originator and author of the series is a creator of book-projects for children, author and principal realiser of the beloved “Smykowizje” workshops and mini-performances series, which took place regularly at CSW Zamek Ujazdowski from 2016 to 2022, in the gallery spaces of U‑jazdowski. She also collaborated for many years on the well-known and popular Smykofonia, familiar to Warsaw families. She is currently curator of education and projects at Teatr Lalek Guliwer and curator of the Festival of Contemporary Music for Children “Mała Warszawska Jesień”.
Przestrzeń Muzyki Współczesnej Hashtag Lab is co-financed by the Capital City of Warsaw.
