Idealistic Festival

24.09 Sun 19:00

100 PLN

From 22 to 25 September, during the jubilee edition of the festival, the most interesting artists of the younger generation and international creators of creative music will meet on the stages of the capital’s clubs. Concerts are not all. The event will also feature workshops and improvised music sessions. Idealistic Festival will visit Hashtag Lab on 24 September!

What does an idealistic festival look like? According to its founders, it is one that does not bank on stars, does not pigeonhole artists by style, likes or number of awards, but instead — in response to “headliner culture” — bets on bringing together artists with an established creative direction, regardless of their career stage, musical genre or market position. We know that outstanding creators are already here; sometimes all it takes is to invite them onto the stage.

Some of the invited creators successfully perform at the biggest musical events in the world, yet they have also chosen to appear at intimate capital-city clubs in support of the idea behind the festival. Idealistic Festival connects the independent Danish scene with the Polish music community, promoting creative uncompromisingness, an emphasis on original music and shared improvisation. That is why after each event there will be intimate concerts at the legendary vinyl shop Plakaton. An important element of the event is also its educational value. As part of Idealistic Festival it will also be possible to take part in free workshops open to pupils (and others) at the Music Education Concert Centre on ul. Połczyńska.

At Hashtag Lab (Sunday 24.09) we will have the opportunity to see three solo concerts. Hubert Kostkiewicz, known from the bands Kurws and Atol Atol Atol, will play electric guitar. Marcela Lucatelli, a radical composer and vocalist, will perform material based on her solo album “ANEW” using piano and voice. The evening of concerts will be closed by Kresten Osgood, a Danish legend of improvised music and jazz.

Creators

The festival was founded by pianist Kamil Piotrowicz and percussionist and independent events organiser Szymon Gąsiorek. During their studies at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen they observed many grassroots initiatives in the surrounding environment, all trying to foreground uncompromising original music. These initiatives often seemed to be isolated, with their reach severely limited. Taking inspiration from the Danes, who value creative collaboration, they decided to create a platform to connect them — one that would strengthen the independent music scene.
