Nocny krąg
An open gathering for everyone who needs to take care of their sensory wellbeing.
Life in a big city, for many people, comes with sensory overstimulation (noise, crowds, traffic jams, queues, cars), and with it stress and exhaustion. Making sounds releases endorphins and stimulates the vagus nerve, which governs the functioning of the most vital organs in our body. We will learn to listen to our body, to direct attention inward. We will discover how our voice sounds in harmony with others. We will explore its effect on others and on ourselves.
During the session we will try to calm the senses, relax the body and steady the breath. Together we will perform vocal exercises that will lead us into meditation and stillness.
The vocal exercises will be based on simple melodies and harmonies drawn from traditional Eastern European folk songs.
Sessions will take place in partial darkness.
The session will be led by the people behind the initiative „Chór niemęski” with the support of a voice teacher.
Chór niemęski is the flagship project of the activist collective “4 Non Straights”. The main purpose of this initiative is to promote LGBTQIA+ art and culture, to support and create artistic actions and happenings that educate on the topics of inclusivity, equal rights, breaking stereotypes around gender identity, combating toxic masculinity, internalised homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and enbyphobia, and to raise awareness of neurodiversity.
