Mateusz Los­ka, born in 1986 in Tychy, is a dou­ble bassist-cham­ber musi­cian and per­former who is con­tin­u­ous­ly devel­op­ing his skills and inter­ests in the field of impro­vi­sa­tion and the inter­pre­ta­tion of con­tem­po­rary music. From 2007 to 2009, he stud­ied dou­ble bass under Prof. Piotr Czer­wińs­ki at the Music Acad­e­my in Poz­nań, and lat­er con­tin­ued his stud­ies in the class of Dr. Szy­mon Guzows­ki. As a soloist and cham­ber musi­cian, he per­formed at fes­ti­vals and events such as the War­saw Autumn, Poz­nań Spring Music Fes­ti­val, Fes­ti­val of Tra­di­tion and Musi­cal Avant-Garde KODY, Sile­sian Days of Con­tem­po­rary Music, Sile­sian Com­pos­er Forums, Inter­na­tion­al Com­posers’ Forum in Poz­nań, MUSICACOUSTICA Bei­jing, Eston­ian Music Days in Tallinn, Rand­fest­spiele Zepernik, Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin, Foy­er Européen in Lux­em­bourg, the 200th Anniver­sary of the Uni­ver­si­ty of Music in Vien­na, and the Inter­na­tion­al Con­tem­po­rary Music Fes­ti­val in Tehran.

Par­tic­i­pant in mas­ter cours­es led by, among oth­ers, Evgeni Kołosov (Moscow), Bonawen­tu­ra Nanc­ka (Ros­tock), François Rab­bath (Paris), Rinat Ibrag­i­mov (London/Bern), Leon Bosch (Lon­don), Thier­ry Bar­bi­er (Paris), MBE Chi-Chi Nwanoku (Lon­don), Alek­sander Gabryś (Basel/Katowice), Klaus Trumpf (Munich), Yia Song (Bei­jing), Sonia Ray (Goiâ­nia City/São Paulo), and Thomas Mar­tin (Lon­don). Over the course of his life, as an orches­tral musi­cian and cham­ber play­er, he has per­formed more than 600 times on stages in 29 Euro­pean coun­tries, the Peo­ple’s Repub­lic of Chi­na, Mon­go­lia, Geor­gia, and Iran. He took part in cre­at­ing sound instal­la­tions. Win­ner of the first prize in the “Bliżej Warsza­wskiej Jesieni” com­pe­ti­tion. Cur­rent­ly, he active­ly per­forms as a mem­ber of con­tem­po­rary music ensem­bles: the War­saw-based #Ensem­ble and the Poz­nań-based Sepia Ensem­ble. He also col­lab­o­rates with the Kraków-based Spółdziel­nia Muzy­cz­na ensem­ble. He is the cre­ator of sound record­ings for ani­mat­ed films, short films, and inde­pen­dent cinema.
