Mateusz Loska, born in 1986 in Tychy, is a double bassist-chamber musician and performer who is continuously developing his skills and interests in the field of improvisation and the interpretation of contemporary music. From 2007 to 2009, he studied double bass under Prof. Piotr Czerwiński at the Music Academy in Poznań, and later continued his studies in the class of Dr. Szymon Guzowski. As a soloist and chamber musician, he performed at festivals and events such as the Warsaw Autumn, Poznań Spring Music Festival, Festival of Tradition and Musical Avant-Garde KODY, Silesian Days of Contemporary Music, Silesian Composer Forums, International Composers’ Forum in Poznań, MUSICACOUSTICA Beijing, Estonian Music Days in Tallinn, Randfestspiele Zepernik, Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin, Foyer Européen in Luxembourg, the 200th Anniversary of the University of Music in Vienna, and the International Contemporary Music Festival in Tehran.
Participant in master courses led by, among others, Evgeni Kołosov (Moscow), Bonawentura Nancka (Rostock), François Rabbath (Paris), Rinat Ibragimov (London/Bern), Leon Bosch (London), Thierry Barbier (Paris), MBE Chi-Chi Nwanoku (London), Aleksander Gabryś (Basel/Katowice), Klaus Trumpf (Munich), Yia Song (Beijing), Sonia Ray (Goiânia City/São Paulo), and Thomas Martin (London). Over the course of his life, as an orchestral musician and chamber player, he has performed more than 600 times on stages in 29 European countries, the People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, Georgia, and Iran. He took part in creating sound installations. Winner of the first prize in the “Bliżej Warszawskiej Jesieni” competition. Currently, he actively performs as a member of contemporary music ensembles: the Warsaw-based #Ensemble and the Poznań-based Sepia Ensemble. He also collaborates with the Kraków-based Spółdzielnia Muzyczna ensemble. He is the creator of sound recordings for animated films, short films, and independent cinema.
