In Absentia
We invite you to a concert by the duo Kwiatkowska x Pałosz, who will present a programme for violin and cello.
Kwiatkowska x Pałosz are two musicians who feel and understand sounds and the world in their own individual ways. The artists have for many years been realising their dreams together, exploring the world of new and newest music.
They write about the In Absentia programme themselves: “We chose pieces that speak of various emotional states in a very beautiful, tender, at times shattering way. In working on them we were accompanied by equally strong emotions, though of a different kind. Searching, getting lost, moments of doubt and fatigue. The programme we will present at Hashtag Lab emerged from a long process of maturing and searching. We first played Adieu m’amour by Spahlinger eight years ago — it was a beautiful and terrifying experience. The notation of Adieu is treacherous; we had to keep surpassing ourselves anew. Since then we have performed this piece several times, and each time it is for us an exceptional experience of being in music together. Last year we came across Fozie Majd — an Iranian composer, eighty years old, cut off from the world, living in the mountains, writing trance-like, obsessive pieces inspired by Persian culture. Mikołaj has just made the discovery of a little-known, rarely performed yet fascinating duo for violin and cello by Onute Narbutaite, June 1981 — and we knew that a complete concert programme had been born.”
