A great object-phone, that is the house at Bars­ka 29, will sound with its doors, win­dows, uten­sils, chairs and cor­ners. It will sing an old melody, per­form a som­er­sault and lull us to sleep.

We invite you to the first con­cert of ĄsąBąble in a new, fam­i­ly-friend­ly space. Works by Witold Lutosławs­ki, Louis Andriessen and George Crumb will be heard, among oth­ers, and impro­vis­ers from Hash­tag Ensem­ble will cre­ate a true home sym­pho­ny. Feel at home!

About the cycle

ĄsąBąble con­certs fea­ture new music for fam­i­lies with chil­dren aged 0–2 and 3–5, but we also invite old­er chil­dren who like to accom­pa­ny their younger sib­lings. Before and after con­certs, par­ents and care­givers along with chil­dren are invit­ed to del­i­ca­cies in our café.

Each con­cert is based on an orig­i­nal script in which music lis­ten­ing, inter­ac­tive games and edu­ca­tion­al val­ues are equal­ly impor­tant. In a friend­ly space adapt­ed to the youngest, you can lis­ten to the music of lead­ing con­tem­po­rary com­posers, in a ver­sion and pro­por­tions adapt­ed for young ears.

Although each edi­tion of ĄsąBąble takes musi­cal tis­sue as its start­ing point, it is also rich in extra-musi­cal con­texts, so close to the prac­tice of Hash­tag Ensem­ble: lit­er­ary, visu­al, social. Events have an inter­dis­ci­pli­nary char­ac­ter: invit­ed artists who have long cre­at­ed in the vicin­i­ty of chil­dren’s imag­i­na­tion will also par­tic­i­pate: dancers, per­form­ers, illustrators.

The cura­tor and host of the cycle is Anna Sza­w­iel – an actress and lec­tur­er who spe­cial­izes in inter­dis­ci­pli­nary cul­tur­al and edu­ca­tion­al events. She likes to work at the bor­ders: con­cert and per­for­mance, edu­ca­tion and play, phys­i­cal­i­ty and abstrac­tion, always in con­nec­tion with chil­dren’s imagination.
