Spółdziel­nia Muzy­cz­na is once again car­ry­ing out its orig­i­nal PLAYGROUND: call for col­lab­o­ra­tions project, invit­ing young com­posers to take part. The co-cre­ation process will result in new works whose start­ing points are the con­cepts, premis­es and for­mal-son­ic sketch­es pre­sent­ed by Szy­mon Wiec­zorek, Lena Micha­jłów and Hubert Gabriel Żmudzki.

Szy­mon Wiec­zorek’s work is inspired in part by Krzysztof War­likowski’s (A)pollonia:

[…] that wicked­ness has left its mark on me. There are men for whom war, or even crime, is a solu­tion, but I am not one of them; for me, as for most peo­ple, war and crime are a ques­tion, a ques­tion with­out an answer — when we cry it out in the night, no one responds. […]

Lena Micha­jłów cur­rent­ly focus­es in her work on com­mu­ni­ca­tion between cre­ator and audi­ence. all you need is is a work about build­ing empa­thy and search­ing for mean­ing in music-mak­ing in an era of max­i­mal­ism. The impulse and mate­r­i­al for writ­ing it was the act of ask­ing peo­ple encoun­tered in every­day life — and her­self — the ques­tion “what do you need?” The com­po­si­tion does not attempt to answer that ques­tion, how­ev­er, but to cre­ate a space for turn­ing towards what is being suppressed.

Hubert Gabriel Żmudz­ki will take lis­ten­ers into a realm of sounds of a rit­u­al char­ac­ter, rich in micro­ton­al and spec­tral har­mon­ics. …Wie man wird, was man ist… is a work in which the com­pos­er seeks answers to the eter­nal ques­tions about human nature. What does it mean to be human? How does one become what one is? The con­cert will be round­ed off by a com­po­si­tion com­mis­sioned from Żane­ta Rydzews­ka, who serves as this year’s play­ground tutor. Insa­tia­bil­i­ty is a work inspired by Stanisław Igna­cy Witkiewicz’s nov­el Nien­asyce­nie, by its inde­ter­mi­nate long­ing for great expe­ri­ences and its per­sis­tent sense of unfulfillment.
