Fikcje i figury
New works by Sławomir Wojciechowski and Aleksandra Słyż each expand in their own way the possibilities latent in the traditional pairing of violin and piano.
The evening will also be an opportunity to meet the two composers and hear about the original concepts underlying both world premieres.
Sławomir Wojciechowski’s Elastic Fictions is scored for violin, piano, Korg synthesizer with vocoder, and computer running MaxMSP. The composer exploits the unlimited possibilities of creating sonic idioms and meanings through an interactive system made up of violin, piano, synthesizer, computer, microphones and loudspeakers.
Aleksandra Słyż’s Seven Figures for violin, piano/upright piano and electronics explores the relationship between intonation and microtonality. The upright piano used in this work will be precisely tuned in the system devised by the American composer La Monte Young in his celebrated The Well-Tuned Piano.
