Matthew Shlomowitz — December Resident at Hashtag Lab

Thanks to a col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Adam Mick­iewicz Insti­tute, Matthew Shlo­mowitz — one of the most elec­tri­fy­ing per­son­al­i­ties in con­tem­po­rary music in Europe — will under­take an artis­tic res­i­den­cy at Hash­tag Lab.

Hash­tag Ensem­ble’s col­lab­o­ra­tion with the com­pos­er dates back to 2016, when we first per­formed Fast Medi­um Swing, pro­vok­ing bursts of laugh­ter in the audi­ence and prov­ing that new music can be iron­ic, joy­ful and ener­getic. In 2022, we met Matthew Shlo­mowitz again in Weimar, where we gave the world pre­miere of Explo­rations vol. 4 and observed the evo­lu­tion of the com­poser’s musi­cal lan­guage. In Decem­ber 2023, the time has come for the full-scale com­pos­er res­i­den­cy we had long dreamed of.

The War­saw res­i­den­cy of Matthew Shlo­mowitz will cul­mi­nate in the Genre Roulette con­cert, to which we warm­ly invite you!
