10 Years of Hashtag Ensemble
In 2024, Hashtag Ensemble celebrates its 10th anniversary. This decade flew by like John Cage’s 4′33″ and caught us shortly after moving into our own venue — Poland’s first Contemporary Music Space, Hashtag Lab in Warsaw.
We’re not bored and we’re not worried — like spirited fourth-graders (because ten years puts us somewhere around the fourth grade), we cheerfully run to our music lessons. Big enough to fully enjoy the diversity of contemporary musical languages, small enough to still have many discoveries ahead of us.
At Hashtag Ensemble rehearsals you’ll still hear irrepressible bursts of laughter and animated conversations, and in the café you’ll get a hot coffee along with a long list of our dreams and plans for the years to come.
At Hashtag Ensemble we tirelessly seek new ways of co-creating music. We want our music to be more than just a set of interesting sounds for our audiences. We want it to tell stories and relate to the world that daily overwhelms them, demanding reaction, reflection, interpretation. We also want the process of making new music — for composers, performers, visual artists, dancers and directors — to be one that builds lasting bonds. The kind that, years later, allow you to find each other on a different continent and pick up a conversation about art as if you’d just walked off stage together yesterday.
For this special year of 2024, we have prepared birthday concerts #10 at Hashtag Lab:
29 February — Still in the Middle
4 April — Meaning Detected
4–6 July — AżTak Festiwal: CIAŁO
30 November — Manifest BeĄsą*
Alongside the #10 concerts, we’ll also invite you to meet composers, attend album premieres, workshops and exhibitions. Beyond that, this year brings: 3 operas, 12 concept programmes, and over 50 musical events at Hashtag Lab.
Details are always available at www.hashtaglab.pl. Be with us!
