10 Years of Hashtag Ensemble

In 2024, Hash­tag Ensem­ble cel­e­brates its 10th anniver­sary. This decade flew by like John Cage’s 4′33″ and caught us short­ly after mov­ing into our own venue — Poland’s first Con­tem­po­rary Music Space, Hash­tag Lab in Warsaw.

We’re not bored and we’re not wor­ried — like spir­it­ed fourth-graders (because ten years puts us some­where around the fourth grade), we cheer­ful­ly run to our music lessons. Big enough to ful­ly enjoy the diver­si­ty of con­tem­po­rary musi­cal lan­guages, small enough to still have many dis­cov­er­ies ahead of us.

At Hash­tag Ensem­ble rehearsals you’ll still hear irre­press­ible bursts of laugh­ter and ani­mat­ed con­ver­sa­tions, and in the café you’ll get a hot cof­fee along with a long list of our dreams and plans for the years to come.

At Hash­tag Ensem­ble we tire­less­ly seek new ways of co-cre­at­ing music. We want our music to be more than just a set of inter­est­ing sounds for our audi­ences. We want it to tell sto­ries and relate to the world that dai­ly over­whelms them, demand­ing reac­tion, reflec­tion, inter­pre­ta­tion. We also want the process of mak­ing new music — for com­posers, per­form­ers, visu­al artists, dancers and direc­tors — to be one that builds last­ing bonds. The kind that, years lat­er, allow you to find each oth­er on a dif­fer­ent con­ti­nent and pick up a con­ver­sa­tion about art as if you’d just walked off stage togeth­er yesterday.

Along­side the #10 con­certs, we’ll also invite you to meet com­posers, attend album pre­mieres, work­shops and exhi­bi­tions. Beyond that, this year brings: 3 operas, 12 con­cept pro­grammes, and over 50 musi­cal events at Hash­tag Lab.
