Oliwier Andruszczenko

Klarnety, EWI / Hashtag Ensemble

A clar­inetist, sax­o­phon­ist, and mul­ti-instru­men­tal­ist from War­saw. He is the leader of the group BUM BUM ORKeSTAR. He is a soloist at the Phil­har­mon­ic of Wit. In 2012, he grad­u­at­ed from the Karol Szy­manows­ki Acad­e­my of Music in Katow­ice under the guid­ance of Dr. Arka­diusz Adams­ki. He is a lau­re­ate of numer­ous solo and cham­ber music com­pe­ti­tions, includ­ing: the 8th Wood­wind Instru­ment Con­fronta­tions in Oława in 1999, the 4th Clar­inet Fes­ti­val in Piotrków Try­bunal­s­ki in 2001, the Inter­na­tion­al Music Com­pe­ti­tion named after Juliusz Zaręb­s­ki in Łomi­an­ki in 2005 and 2006, the Nation­al Cham­ber Music Fes­ti­val in Sochaczew in 2006, the 2nd Inter­na­tion­al Cham­ber Music Fes­ti­val in Oleśni­ca in 2006, the 6th Nation­al Music Inter­pre­ta­tion Com­pe­ti­tion in Kra­siczyn in 2012, and the 9th 20th and 21st Cen­tu­ry Music Com­pe­ti­tion for Young Per­form­ers in Radziejow­ice in 2012. Oli­wier Andruszczenko honed his skills with artists and edu­ca­tors such as: Eduard Brun­ner, Ori­ol Romaní, Jan Jakub Bokun, Artur Pach­lews­ki, Jean-Marc Fes­sard, Alek­sander Romańs­ki, Matthias Müller, Miroslav Hlavac, Gio­ra Fei­d­man, and with the Vien­na Clar­inet Con­nec­tion. He has per­formed in Poland and abroad (Ger­many, Por­tu­gal, Bel­gium, Spain, Lithua­nia, Esto­nia, Ukraine).

In 2007, he began cre­at­ing and per­form­ing klezmer, Balkan, and Sephardic music. With the bands Balkan Sev­dah, Maayan, and Propa­Ban­da, he per­formed at fes­ti­vals such as: Open’er Fes­ti­val (2011), Przys­tanek Wood­stock (2011), Singer’s Fes­ti­val (2007, 2010), Three Cul­tures Fes­ti­val (2011), Sim­cha Jew­ish Cul­ture Fes­ti­val (2010), Tzadik Fes­ti­vals (2012), One Europe, Many Cul­tures (2011), and Sari (2010). At the end of 2014, he found­ed the band BUM BUM ORKeSTAR. With this for­ma­tion, he toured the coun­try exten­sive­ly, per­form­ing at all the major fes­ti­vals, and win­ning awards at two of the most impor­tant fes­ti­vals: Mikoła­j­ki Folkowe (3rd prize) and Cross­roads of Cul­tures (2nd prize and the Audi­ence Award).

Since 2009, he has been col­lab­o­rat­ing with the Pol­ish Com­posers’ Union. As part of the 52nd War­saw Autumn in 2009, he par­tic­i­pat­ed (along­side Mag­dale­na Lisak and Woj­ciech Błaże­jczyk) in the per­for­mance of six­ty one-minute com­po­si­tions cre­at­ed for the 60th anniver­sary of the Young Com­posers’ Cir­cle of the Pol­ish Com­posers’ Union. He has numer­ous world pre­mieres and Pol­ish pre­mieres of works by Włodz­imierz Kotońs­ki, Lidia Zielińs­ka, Krzysztof Knit­tel, Zbig­niew Bag­ińs­ki, Krzysztof Bac­ulews­ki, Bro­nisław Kaz­imierz Przy­byl­s­ki, Prasqal, Dar­iusz Przy­byl­s­ki, Tomasz Jakub Opał­ka, Igna­cy Zalews­ki, and Agniesz­ka Stulgińs­ka to his cred­it. He is a mem­ber of the War­saw Con­tem­po­rary Ensem­ble (for­mer­ly Scon­tri Ensem­ble) – a group of the Young Com­posers Cir­cle of the Pol­ish Com­posers’ Union, per­form­ing con­tem­po­rary music. Since 2014, he has been a part of the Hash­tag Ensem­ble, with which he has per­formed at events such as: War­saw Autumn, Sacrum Pro­fanum, Sin­fo­nia Varso­via, POLIN Music Fes­ti­val, Tallinn Afekt Fes­ti­val, Poz­nań Spring Music Fes­ti­val, Musi­ca Elec­tron­i­ca Nova, Music Gar­dens, War­saw Music Meet­ings, and oth­ers. He is involved in music pro­duc­tion as a ses­sion musi­cian, work­ing reg­u­lar­ly with the Pup­pet and Actor The­atre in Wałbrzych, the Sile­sian Pup­pet and Actor The­atre Ateneum, the Mask The­atre in Rzeszów, and the Lal­ka The­atre in War­saw. He is also a musi­cian at the Dra­mat­ic The­atre and the Nation­al Theatre.

Since 2017, I have been per­form­ing with Ste­fan Wesołows­ki, spe­cial­iz­ing in the ambi­ent genre. Since 2019, I have been part of the project “Leś­na Muzy­ka” with Daw­id Pod­si­adło, and in 2023, this project won a Fry­deryk Award.
