Łucja Chyrzyńska

Łucja Chyrzyńska (b. 1998) – flautist, Young Artist of Wm. S. Haynes Co. Flute Company, graduate of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, where she completed her master’s degree with distinction in 2023 in the flute class of Prof. Wiesław Suruło.
A laureate of numerous national and international competitions, including the Grand Prix at the World Classical Music Awards; First Prizes at the American Virtuoso International Music Competition, the 9th Stockholm International Music Competition, the 3rd International Instrumental Performance Competition, the Tokyo International Youth Music Competition; Second Prize at the Flutes by the Sea International Flute Competition. As a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral performer, she participates in numerous artistic projects, initiatives and cultural events, including international festivals, conferences and symposia. In 2022, she performed with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. She actively performs throughout Europe and Asia.
She specialises in contemporary music performance, which she has been actively promoting in Poland and abroad for many years. She has given numerous world and Polish premieres, including at Darmstädter Ferienkurse (2025), the Szalone Dni Muzyki International Festival (2025), AżTak Festival (2025), AudioArt Festival (2025), the Kraków International Festival of Composers (2016, 2018, 2019), the Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music (2018), the New Music Concerts organised by the Department of Composition of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, the ELEMENTI Conference (2018), as well as other significant cultural events. Her artistic practice also encompasses experimental music and improvisation.
In 2024, on the basis of her artistic achievements and contribution to the development of new music, Chyrzyńska was selected as a laureate of the second edition of the Akademia PRO mentoring programme of Hashtag Ensemble; two years later, she joined the ensemble as its official member.
An important area of her artistic activity is pedagogy, music education and mentoring. Since 2024, at the invitation of the Department of Composition of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, she has been delivering guest lectures for students devoted to extended flute techniques as well as the specificity and repertoire of the instrument. For the past two years, she has been running her own private flute studio, within which she teaches flute performance and music theory both to individuals outside the formal system of artistic education and to those preparing for a professional musical career.
Chyrzyńska is a three-time recipient of the Rector’s Scholarship for Outstanding Students at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków (2018, 2021, 2022). She participated twice in international student exchange programmes within Erasmus+, further developing her skills at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki under Prof. Mikael Helasvuo (2019) and at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in Riga in the flute class of Prof. Ilze Urbāne (2022–2023).
She has participated in numerous masterclasses, symposia and academic conferences. In 2025, she was selected to take part in the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt (Darmstädter Ferienkurse), developing her performance qualifications in the flute class of the distinguished flautist Claire Chase. She is currently collaborating with the artist on the realisation of Polish premieres of works from the repertoire of Density Arts – an American organisation founded by Chase in 2013, dedicated to the advancement of contemporary flute music. She also participated twice in the Summer Courses of New Music for Performers in Bydgoszcz (2022, 2024), with Ewa Liebchen and Szymon Bywalec among the course faculty. She further refined her artistic practice through masterclasses, working with renowned flautists and pedagogues, including Robert Dick, Helen Bledsoe, Andrea Oliva, Anna Garzula-Wahlgren, Wally Hase, Gareth McLearnon, Nuno Inácio, Marina Camponês, Dejan Gavrić, Johanna Dömötör, Sarah Louvion, Renate Greiss-Armin, Raffaele Trevisani, Paulo Taballione, Adria Sternstein-Foster, Barbara Świątek-Żelazny, Ewa Murawska, Urszula Janik, Elżbieta Woleńska.
