Wspaki i wstęgi. Wystawa autorskich instrumentów Andrzeja Tadeusza Króla

The exhi­bi­tion is accom­pa­nied by the con­cert Porus­zone napię­cia, dur­ing which you will dis­cov­er how the exper­i­men­tal instru­ments sound.

String instru­ments that are sculp­tures, sculp­tures that are instru­ments. Wspa­ki came into being through inver­sion and through ten­sion. They are played with a bow like a cel­lo, of which they are wild cousins. Wstę­gi are ten­sioned hoops, twist­ed along a short sec­tion like a Möbius strip — that is pre­cise­ly where the metaphor­i­cal place of pas­sage is located.

The wstę­gi have their own sound, they pro­duce sym­bol­ic sounds. The wspa­ki belong to the fam­i­ly of string instru­ments with a com­mon lin­eage but dif­fer­ent forms and sounds. Their sound­box­es are ten­sioned in a par­tic­u­lar way. The wstę­gi exist only through ten­sion; they them­selves are strings, although they too have res­onators, and between them met­al strings are stretched.

There are many meth­ods of artic­u­la­tion, some wait­ing to be discovered.
