Visual Music

Enter a world where comics turn into melodies, card games arrange them­selves into rhythms, and musi­cians lis­ten for the voic­es of imag­i­nary ani­mals. This con­cert is a com­bi­na­tion of two extra­or­di­nary son­ic worlds of com­posers Chris­t­ian Mar­clay and Ivo Nilsson.

Mar­clay’s scores are full of colour and chaos, encour­ag­ing per­form­ers to move freely between sec­tions, like musi­cal acro­bats. Comics and game ele­ments become a point of depar­ture for son­ic adven­tures. Nilsson’s music is inspired by ani­mal sounds and the unpre­dictable ways in which they can be imi­tat­ed, trans­formed, and played with. It opens the door to an excit­ing musi­cal safari.

On this one evening, in which the fun nev­er ends and rules are few, expect the unex­pect­ed, antic­i­pate the unan­tic­i­pat­ed, and pre­pare to laugh until you can’t breathe. You will hear music that awak­ens curios­i­ty, imag­i­na­tion, and invites play — not only in chil­dren. And it is pre­cise­ly imag­i­na­tion and gen­uine fun that form the foun­da­tion of great art.

The con­cert is planned to include chil­dren from the Oskar Kol­berg State Music School (1st degree) in Warsaw.
