Aleksandra Demowska-Madejska

Vio­list, social activist, pro­duc­er, Doc­tor of Musi­cal Arts. Since 2022, she has been a fac­ul­ty mem­ber at the G. and K. Bacewicz Acad­e­my of Music in Łódź, and since 2023, she has been co-man­ag­ing the Social Cul­tur­al Insti­tu­tion – Con­tem­po­rary Music Space Hash­tag Lab in Warsaw.

As a solo musi­cian, she has per­formed at fes­ti­vals such as the 14th Sva­tová­clavský Music Fes­ti­val, the 5th Prague Clar­inet Days, the 10th H. Górec­ki Days in Katow­ice, the 43rd “Evenings at Telemann’s,” the 37th War­saw Music Meet­ings in War­saw, and the 5th Cla­ri­ma­nia Fes­ti­val in Wrocław.

Their dou­ble con­certs were ded­i­cat­ed to her by: Paweł Łukaszews­ki, Woj­ciech Błaże­jczyk, Weroni­ka Ratusińs­ka-Zamuszko, Artur Kroschel, and Daw­id Pajdzik.

While work­ing on her own projects, she col­lab­o­rat­ed with numer­ous cre­ators from Ger­many, the Unit­ed King­dom, Cana­da, Colom­bia, and Poland. She per­formed as a soloist with the Pol­ish Radio Orches­tra in War­saw, the Gorzów Phil­har­mon­ic Orches­tra, the Radom Cham­ber Orches­tra, Sin­fo­nia Iuven­tus, the Sile­sian Cham­ber Orches­tra, and the Inter­Cam­er­a­ta Orchestra.

Since 2021, she has been active­ly redis­cov­er­ing, restor­ing, and per­form­ing for­got­ten Pol­ish and Pol­ish-Jew­ish reper­toire for vio­la and piano, includ­ing works by Ety Tyr­mand and Witold Friemann.

Since the for­ma­tion of the band in 2013, she has been a mem­ber of the new music ensem­ble Hash­tag Ensem­ble. She was also a mem­ber of orches­tras such as the Euro­pean Union Youth Orches­tra (2005) and the Sin­fo­nia Iuven­tus Orches­tra (2008–2013).


She received schol­ar­ships from the Min­istry of Cul­ture and Nation­al Her­itage (MKiDN) in 2019 and 2020, as well as from ZAIKS in 2022. In 2020, she was award­ed the “Mer­i­to­ri­ous for Pol­ish Cul­ture” Badge, and in 2022, the gold badge of the Pol­ish Asso­ci­a­tion of Musicians.

She is the lau­re­ate of, among oth­ers, the First Nation­al Pol­ish Music Com­pe­ti­tion in mem­o­ry of Z. Frie­mann in Byd­goszcz (First Prize).

She com­plet­ed her doc­tor­al stud­ies in the vio­la class of Prof. J. Kukuła-Kopczyńs­ka at the G. and K. Bacewicz Acad­e­my of Music in Łódź. She com­plet­ed her mas­ter’s degree and artis­tic intern­ship at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music in the class of Prof. M. Mar­czyk and Prof. P. Reichert. She also stud­ied at the Roy­al Flem­ish Con­ser­va­toire in Antwerp in the class of Prof. L. De Neve.

Since 2015, she has been the Sec­re­tary of the Board of the Pol­ish Asso­ci­a­tion of Musi­cians, and since 2017, she has served as the Vice Pres­i­dent and lat­er as a Mem­ber of the Board of the Sfera Har­monii Foundation.
